Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 10:37 AMthanks Bill, BTW is the station in the same place it used to be? -
-
Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 1:06 PMYes, in the lower lefthand corner of the Old Student Center.
Actually, if you go in the front double doors, and hang a left, it might be easier to get in, since those doors open directly into the studio.
Otherwise, go to the old side door and lean on the buzzer.

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 5:15 AMAaaand for the super-oldster yakathon, tune in the Mick Jeffries' Trivial Thursdays from 7-9am with guest Kakie Urch, as we rehash the whole bloody affair that is WRFL. Either that, or we'll talk about donuts.
www.trivialthursdays.com
ps: righteous shouts to carley and co. for organizing this deejay pair-up thang. It's sugar sweet! -
-
Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 12:56 PMOne late addition to this; Mary Jane (otherwise known as me)
will sit in with Mr. Kite on the Saturday 4/26 Psychedelicatessen
from 8pm-10pm.
Not that anyone will be listening, with the Freeky Fest goin' on,
but hey, that's the way the brownie crumbles.
For those who don't know, 'Mary Jane' was the co-host of the
'deli in the early to mid nineties.....

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 6:23 PMWah-hoo!
I'm so excited, even though I have to screen what computer geek inspired / insipid fare I'm bringin' along for any punctuation-substitute terminology that might potentially solicit the ire of the FCC man in his snoop van, or worse, that of proud parents prepping their family's Sat mornin' poppy seed 'n pineapple flap jacks.
What I've picked so far, built a playlist to try them out, just like making mix tapes in the old days before an all nighter shift:
Alex H - "Imperial Boomaclaat" & "Mupp It Out"
Andy kirk & His Thwelve Clock of Joy "Wham (Wham, Re Bee Bop Bam)
Art Brut "Modern Art"
Avalanches "Frontier Psychiatrist"
The Beatles "I Am the Walrus" (Cirque Du Soleil Vegas show version)
Billy Nayer Show "Hey Boy" from American Astronaut
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy "Go Daddy-O"
The Blue Hawaiians "Martini Five-O"
Bioshock "Circus of Values" soundbyte
Coldbloodedkiller "Leeroy Jenkins"
The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets "One Gilled Girl"
The Dead Alewives "Mama Rap"
The Evolution Control Committee "All Your Base Are Belong 2 Us (Elvis Version)"
Emon Xie "Sophie's Call"
Emon Xie "Crash of the Titans Score & SFX Montage"
Fantomas "Spider Baby"
Husbands "Orphan Boy"
Jade Warrior "Snake"
James Brown "Funk On Ah Roll (S-Class Mix)"
Jucifer "My Stars"
Leeroy Jenkins "Chicken Techno Mix"
Liam Lynch & Darth Vader "United States of Noooo"
Los Straightjackets "San Diego Shutdown" & "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"
Madvillian "Do Not Fire! (instrumental)"
Metropolitan Blues All-Stars "I Always Wanted to Meet Tony J"
Mix Master Mix "Rebel Enforcer" & "Well Wicked"
Po' Girl "Old Mountain Line"
Polnesian Cultural Center Come With Me"
Portal "Still Alive"
Primus "Mama Didn't Raise No Fool"
Snake River Conspiracy "How Soon Is Now?" & "Act Your Age"
Suckadelic "Cobra Stops the World" & "Villian Invader Break"
Tarran the Tailor "Ah Diggee"
United Steel Workers of Montreal "Wanderin' Eye" & "Where the Green grass Grows"
Yoko Kanno "Tank!" from Cowboy Beebop
Not that any sane DJ with an ounce of taste would let me play any of those tracks; might have to resort to bribery... heh.
Going to be a hoot, esp. with what Amberly has said is in store, Snow Monster is the bomb. Look forward to meeting Neil and Amberly in person, and thanks again to everyone that's made this whole WRFL 88.1 fm reunion thing happen!

PS - and can't wait to see WRFL added as a location and the alumni as impromptu subjects for my goofy pet project 12 Angry Inches:

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 3:26 AMTonight (Wednesday) it looks like Hap Houlihan and I will be on WUKY's "Curtains at Eight" show (airs at 8:00 - get it?) talking about the good old days on WRFL, FreeKY Fest, etc..., and tossing in a few plugs for our lil' bookstore, which opens in a few weeks (cases are on the truck!). RFL alum/current UKY guy Joe Conkwright also has something special for the show, and I hear we may be joined by Kakie and John Clark. Host Nick Lawrence has some issues w/ scheduling, so there might be monkeys, hypnotists, historians, and community leaders in the mix as well. They've got a listen button on www.wuky.org, or listen the old-fashioned way on 91.3 FM. -

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 4:18 PMI had to flake on my shift last night. left a message for Carley at about 1:30ish (I think) I'm sure everything was fine without me. Wish I could have been there though, I really wanted to see the new place. -

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 7:31 PMO.K., so it's official, Bobby Ray is coming from all the way across campus to sit in on the Hot Burrito show, Sunday, Noon - 2. A little twang for the morning/day after?
Would seem appropriate to work in 9 lb. Hammer's kickin' version of John Anderson's Black Sheep (should I be granted leave to do so from them senior Burritoids).

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 11:11 AMWord on the street is that Hair Police are playing at the station from 10pm to midnight, and that Thru the Vibe has been bumped up to 8pm-10pm. I hope that the tentative Robert Beatty and "Mad" Mike Connolly subbing for "The Uncle Bill Show" fell through. Don't want to be stepping on any toes here. -
-
Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 11:51 AMNahhh...no toes o' mine, anyway. The LISTENERS are gonna be confused as hell...
Be aware...if you're gonna use the DJ coffin, seems like there's always some essential piece missing...be sure to bring enough cords and whatnot.

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 7:27 AMJed and I just got home from the show, LOVE the new broadcast studio, and HUGE thanks to Neil and Amberly for letting us join in the fun!
Big question, can we get a temp password to the site, or borrow someone's (email me directly emonxie@ianchristy.com) to log in to download our show and save it off the server where the shows get saved hourly or whatever? Promise not to abuse the password or anything, just would like to save off our cameo on their shows, further, to then be able to share the shows with all the cats back home, which for me is back in BC.
I heard from Uncle Bill last night that the shows get saved hourly, but after two weeks or so get cleared, so time is somewhat of an issue.
Thanks to anyone that can help us out, thanks to everyone making the reunion and FreeKY events happen, and and everyone else because we're appreciative like that!

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 9:56 AMYes please, me too.
My first show is from Wednesday, April 16th, from 6-9 am, under Matt Gibson's log-in name. That show needs to be saved ASAP for me if someone can make sure, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
The same goes for my second show on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6-9 am, also under Matt Gibson's log-in name. He was on the air before me both weeks. Also, I need Thursday, April 17th, from 7-9 am, when I went on Mick's show. Thanks to Mick, Bill, and everyone else who said they would try to get all those downloaded for me, but I have yet to get confirmation on that, so just sayin' please and thank you.
I wish I wouldn't have missed so many of the old school airshifts. I would love to hear everyone. -

Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 10:15 AMJack,
Chuck told me he was going to set all of us OG jocks a password so that we could do our own downloads. I e-mailed him earlier, so hopefully he has recovered enough from this weekend to get that information out.
Great seeing you Friday! -
-
Re: GEEZERS VS. TYKES: THE SCHEDULE!
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 10:21 AMI hope so, Dave. My first show was almost two weeks ago exactly so if there is a time limit, I need that link right away.
