It's Never Too Late For the Past

Hello, everybody!

It's been a season of death, it seems. So, I've been going through a lot of old photos, helping my parents make commemorative slide shows to honor the lives of their passing siblings. While going through the archives, I found several photos from the late 80s that I've uploaded to a Flickr page. I had wanted to find these before the reunion, but I'd just moved and couldn't remember which box contained my old photos. Hope you don't mind that they're a bit late.

You can view them here:

Hope everyone's doing well and I send my sincerest condolences to all who mourn Starlen's passing.

Also, sorry I missed the big reunion. I just had a baby at the end of December and I'm still in the first year fog. (Not so good for conversation, unless you're really interested in lengthy discussions of stool consistency and the nutritional implications of such.) So I'll see you all at the 25 year reunion!

Best wishes,
Mary

ps. If anyone wants me to remove their Flickr photo(s), just contact me and I'll honor your request.

Sigh, WRFL, Ale8one, Cut Corner (one of the best record stores ever in my opinion), Shawn,Lexington all these things I miss .

Lexington, Mullets, moustaches, KBH ( Kentuckybighair), pegged/tighrolled jeans, scratchy Guatemalan sweaters from the Student Center sale and fruity new wave hairstyles..these are some things I dont miss..haha...great pictures..

Richard Gere's book of images called Pilgrims has something the Dalai Lama says about photographs I thought was interesting. Looking into an image capturing the advent of time & place will break up into its respective fragments the CLOSER we try to discern its provenance. Life, in other words, should be taken in wholly, possibly going from the subjective unto the Cosmic/objective.

Oh hell, that was before my neck caved in.

I was just in Lexington for a few days -- I'd like to plug Wyn Morris' bookshop, which my daughter described as "magnificent" -- on Southland, across from the Co-op. Delightful!

Thanks for the photos of Shawn and Jamie, Mary, and congrats on your expansion of an already lovely family --
