Hey, y'all. Really missed getting down there to mingle and schmooze. Got caught up in my sister's midlife crisis/audition for the "Jerry Springer Show" and saddled with some childcare obligations. After looking at the pics from Saturday, I realized I could have just brought the whippersnappers with me but, well, best of plans and all. I have a hard enough time looking after my own well-being, never mind that of two chil'run. Anyway, weather has me taking the day off and I thought I'd poke my head up in here and see what's stirring. Apparently, nothing.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 9:18 PMHey Gordon --! Just saying hey. We all missed you a million in Lexington but understand when circumstances come up.
I want to let you know the crowd went wild when I said your name from the FreeKY Fest stage. I namechecked a bunch of folks as they came up to be introduced as Originals -- and didn't forget you. Crowd roared back at me. (And Joseph Lloyd/Theresa Holmes' company had the sound mixed pin-drop sharp, so I know they heard me!) Hope you are doing well.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 6:41 AMSorry you couldn't make it down.
I was only able to make it down on friday so I missed the FreeKy fest on Saturday myself.
It looked like a blast, but the roof needed fixing, yo!
Sorry about missing some of you folks and the yung 'uns!

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 11:50 AMI guess they're going to have to do another FreeKY Fest in five years for the 25th anniversary so everyone who couldn't make it this time will have another shot. Quite a few people weren't able to make it this time around, and we would have had an even better time if they had. So, 2013? -

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 4:21 AMI did go to the F.Fest, but missedOut on DJing=the night it was to happen intruded on my beauty sleep--I'm a working stiff too, dudes! Tho' My prep had begun for it, because some musicians I find coming out of the looming pantheon of a vast pool compelling me, has lyricism that divulges more & more a kind of iconic-grief that "it all is being said, so dip in at will." And at the same time what they sing has more to tell us about ourselves than anything we can know about the artist. I was going to reference a Lee Perry line or 2 had I sat in on Russel's show, so JUST now is def. Good enough. L. Perry says, "take a long blow, take a long long blow." (album: Message from Yard) And well I finally credit some observable release so much so that I've dreamt that song. Imagery of finding the road divulged as each foot grapples toward its unveiling, I'm smoking "js" that are more like the whites of my eyes transmuting into a feeling thence a ritual being passed from hand to hand, like I'm holding an eye up to my face & taking a long blow... Now if I ever dream of Coltrane's Soul Eyes, I'd really be in trouble...there may in fact be no release from that. -

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 10:55 AMHey Gordon,
We dedicated "Pretty Green Ice-Box Eyes" by the Ophelias to you when I sat in with Paul on the Psychedelicatessen 4/26,
hoping you might be listening....or wait, maybe it was Magick Power by Opal.....
Missed seeing you; maybe next year, or in five, who knows??
