I did go to the F.Fest, but missedOut on DJing=the night it was to happen intruded on my beauty sleep--I'm a working stiff too, dudes! Tho' My prep had begun for it, because some musicians I find coming out of the looming pantheon of a vast pool compelling me, has lyricism that divulges more & more a kind of iconic-grief that "it all is being said, so dip in at will." And at the same time what they sing has more to tell us about ourselves than anything we can know about the artist. I was going to reference a Lee Perry line or 2 had I sat in on Russel's show, so JUST now is def. Good enough. L. Perry says, "take a long blow, take a long long blow." (album: Message from Yard) And well I finally credit some observable release so much so that I've dreamt that song. Imagery of finding the road divulged as each foot grapples toward its unveiling, I'm smoking "js" that are more like the whites of my eyes transmuting into a feeling thence a ritual being passed from hand to hand, like I'm holding an eye up to my face & taking a long blow... Now if I ever dream of Coltrane's Soul Eyes, I'd really be in trouble...there may in fact be no release from that.
