Anyone have recommendations on what to do, where to go, things to see?
My wife and I might take 'Vaca 09' in Lexington.
I know I'd like to take the 'reminiscent tour' and visit all of my old haunts.
That is if they still exist but that's about one afternoon of driving around.
But do any of you have specific places you'd suggest for a visitor that's never been to Lexington, or not been around for nearly 20 years?
(Sorry to say, neither of us likes our music loud. We're old now.)

Tue, May 27, 2008 - 8:30 AMNothing specific yet but in order of preference:
Summer
Fall
Spring
Any trip would have to include a trip to High Bridge and the Red River Gorge.

Mon, May 26, 2008 - 7:39 AMFor one thing, Burger Shake is still open (and still the same) on New Circle Road. Lowbrow, yes. But necessary. Tolly-Ho is still going strong, although they've changed somewhat.
Southland Drive offers an excellent array of dining choices, including Sontino's, Marikka's, and Winchell's, to name a few. And Wyn just opened his bookstore over there, too. Southland Bowling Alley is still there, as well. The cornbread at the snack bar kicks ass.
People-watching at Woodland Park is free and fun. Or spend a few bucks and go swimming at the pool. Raven Run is another good place to go for outdoor fun.
Columbia's steakhouse on N. Lime is still serving up the Nighthawk, although a lot of locals have abandoned Columbia's for Malone's. Malone's is good, but it isn't more than twice as good as Columbia's. It costs more than twice as much as Columbia's, though.
You could spend a good amount of time at Pop's Resale on Leestown Road. They have a ton of vintage vinyl, and a good random assortment of other used items.
Cut Corner is gone, but CD Central is in the same building. Sqecial Media is still there, too.
WRFL is in the same place.

Tue, May 27, 2008 - 8:36 AMThat's my kind of vacation!
I could eat my way through any city on earth and call it the best vacation ever.
Thanks Matt. -

Wed, June 11, 2008 - 7:23 AMJust to reiterate. SONTINOS would welcome you. It's my wife's restaurant. And since she points & I retrieve, you may see me there too. It could be exquisite couple of hrs: Eat some Italian grub--ma & Pa, then walk to Wyn's BS get a good read, then go next door to the Arab deli for a tea & a sweet or two.
