Once in Oct anyone?

topic posted Mon, April 21, 2008 - 7:42 AM by  Amira
I'm going to bring in Onca from Baraka Mundi in October. The date is still up in the air until I get a call back to confirm the date with the venue. We're going to do 2 workshops and a show. Any ideas for what types of workshops you'd like? She can do drills, technique, cane, fan, skirt, sword, tribal fusion, pop & lock, choreo and even burlesque. It's up to you all so let me know!

I would love to take from Onca!
My tenth anniversary is in Oct, though, and we are planning the "romantic get-away" thing, so it really depends on the date for me.

well how about that! :) sounds fun! my only objection is that it is in October and October is always so full for me. already two weekends are full for me w/o this workshop, but hopefully it will work out. where will the workshop be held?

The workshop is at the SC Rec Center and the show is at the LaBelle Theater, both in South Charleston. I really debated on when to have it. I needed to leave enough time for planning, yet not make it too far in the year to where weather could be an issue. We already have a big show for Halloween so I figured this could coincide with that.

So, is it going to be for the Halloween show? I should ask: Is the workshop going to be held and THEN the Halloween hafla later that night on the same day? Or are the Halloween show and the workshop show being held at different times? I as planning on performing for that one (I haven't been to the Samadhi Halloween festivities), but if it’s with the workshop I wouldn't feel right coming. I'm one of those people who feel like they are crashing things when they don't take the classes that are before the show. ;-p

WOW! What I just typed looks a bit confusing, but I hope you reach in there and get what I’m asking. ;-p I’m having trouble myself….

Yep, they're on the same day and there will be a requirement of taking the workshop to be in the show. I can't believe you've missed the Samadhi Halloween show this many times. You deserve a beating!

Don't beat me! I can't help it. I'm a college student and I make no wage! Although I am a firm believer in college students getting paid to go to class, I don't think my dreams shall be realized any time soon. :-p Plus, I already have an event lined up over the summer to blow hundreds of dollars on. :-) Mwahahaha!

I shall be sure to come one of these years....*sigh* I think Halloween knows I like it so much that it conspires against me.

Oh girl, you know I still had to have a Halloween show. It's the most fun show of the year. I'm just starting the planning so many months in advance that it will be manageable for me. I'm all for the pop and lock too. So many choices, it's hard!!!

Sounds great!!! I know my troupe and students would be up for such a workshop! I'm up for anything but floorwork. Knowing that most people are not "in shape" for floor work, but would do it anyway as part of a workshop, I really keep safety in mind for my students.

Thanks for bringing in such a wonderful instructor! I'll keep October open so that there is no conflict with my troupe's schedule and your workshop.

We would love to have you all Kali. It seems like we rarely cross paths for some reason. I'm planning to come to the Jim Boz workshop so I'll see you all there. I'm just going to pay at the door even though it 's more since my life has been too crazy lately and I'm afraid something will come up that will keep me from going. I'd rather pay the extra 10 bucks to go than to lose it all if I can't go.
