Male Student

topic posted Fri, March 14, 2008 - 12:33 PM by  GreyCrow
Hello to the tribe!

Okay, I am VERY new to belly dancing, and have only taken 2 lessons, from a friend of mine. That has been some time ago. I am very interested in taking lessons again as a beginner (very much a beginner) in the Tribal style.

I live in Charleston if that's a help.

Thank you Ladies!!!

Oh yay! Good for you! Bellydance is catching guys too, which by the way is awesome. :-) There are tribal teachers in Charleston! You can try going to the Samadhi website, where Amira has a little bit of info on other teachers in WV:

wvbellydance.com/links.html (you might have to scroll down a bit to find them.)

P.S. Kali is right here on tribe and she teaches in Charleston. :-) I'm sure she won't mind a PM about it.

Thanks so much for your help guys! Hope to see you around! By The Way, if anyome is interested, there will be an open stage May 3rd at an Event in Kanawha State Forest called Beltaine in the Woods. It is a Wiccan event, but anyone is welcome.

So far, there will be drum circles, a Reiki Tent, Ann Rynolds, David Wood (a Wiccan Musician) will be performing as well. Oh! And a maypole dance and public ritual.

If interested, just ask, and I'l give you all the info that I have!

Kali, I think your old Friend, and mine are the same. Which is wonderful, because we'll have a chance to meet in person!

And I am interested in your next beginners series when it starts again. I've heard wonderful things from our mutual friend about you.

::laughing:: Then Kenneth, you and I are two of the luckiest people in the world!

Yes, I will definitely contact you when I start my next beginner's series. I like to space them so I can get the newbies comfortable with joining the regular class--make sure they feel the same level of comfort with their dancing. Once I know they're okay, I'm ready for a new round.<G>

I am looking forward to meeting you! I know our dear Zia will be happy to have another guy around!

Wow. That sounds cool. I haven't been to a Beltaine event in ages. Probably a little far for me, unfortunately.

There is a road that connects into Kanawha State Forest from Hernshaw, but I'm not sure what it's called. It's a windy nasty road, though.

You can make it by taking rte 94, to 3, then 119 North, but I think it might be very round-about, and take a long while. Try typing directions in on google maps, and see what you can get. I know KSF is only about 40 min. from Marmet by the interstate.

You can come through Kanawha City, if that helps. From the interstate, take the 35th street exit, get in the right lane and merge right onto MacCorkle Ave. and get into the left lane. There's a turn lane coming up real quickly-turn left between where Watt Powell Park used to be and MacDonalds. Go under the tracks and straight through the stop sign. This takes you across Chesterfield Avenue and onto South Park Road. It's hilly and curvy. When you get to the end of the road,(you will be at a stop sign-there will be the old Loudendale School-now storage units-on your right and a house on your left)-turn left here, and you will go straight into Kanawha State forest. I have no idea how long it takes going that way. I live in Loudendale and I can be in Kanawha City in about ten minutes.

so, a drum circle, huh? so, should we show up in belly dance gear? :) and I'm excited about the Reiki tent too. I got my level II in January. since there's a drum circle and there will already be some wv bellydancers there (and 'cause I think it sounds cool :) ), go ahead and post the details. I'd love to know them. I was considering going to a fairy festival that weekend, but it's a really huge one and 4 hours away, which may be too much for the little one. we have family in charleston, though.
