I would like to thank all of you who were in Beckley last weekend. It really made me step back and appreciate what we have all created here. And it's a beautiful thing. So I decided to turn down the job i have been waiting on in colorado. I went today and registered a new non profit organization. The West Virginia World Music Education Cooperative. It's purpose is to help foster cultural understanding and awareness in WV schools. So i guess i'm not going anywhere after all. If any of you work in schools and would like information please get ahold of me. And to everyone else, thanks again.

Thu, February 12, 2009 - 12:32 PMWell i cant say the extra time hurt any. Well, goal of the non profit is to promote cultural awareness and understanding in schools. It is also a way for me to get grant money to do field work. We will be creating curricula for music teachers to use in their classrooms as well as doing presentations on world music, particularly drumming of course, and working with high school hand drumming ensembles.

I will say that schools in WV do NEED (desperately) a better knowledge of cultures.....well not all of us but yeah it's needed. ;-p Sorry, tried to put it nicely but dude we have a serious lack of cultural edu. in this state. It's kind of sad. x.x -
