Who's going to Triboriginal?

Who all is going to Triboriginal? I know a bunch of us are registering together with Karnsy, but I'm not sure who all "we" are.

For those of you that went last year, give us the low down on what we should expect, what we should bring, etc.

I went last year, and had a great time!

      Here is the link...

      www.barakamundi.com/triboriginal/

It is Sept 19-21 in Black Mountain NC near Asheville. It is held at a campground with cabins. The cabins have electricity and bathrooms with running water (toilets and showers), but the 'air-conditioning' consists of screened windows *grin* so people brought things to hang over the windows.

The cost for the weekend covers the classes, lodging, and food. The only thing that you need to bring money for is drinks (except H2O), and shopping.

There are usually four different classes going on during each block of time. There is a show on Fri and on Sat evenings. Last year both shows were followed by impromptu playing and dancing. (I am a fuddy-duddy who needs to sleep at night so I missed most of these, but I heard that they were a great time).

We have enough people registering this week to get the uber-early group discount. YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!

Awwww yeah, TribO take 2. My husband and I went last year and had such a blast, that even with the financial downturn of my quitting my job and going back to school, we'll find the money to go to TribOriginal again. We're in on the group, as are Ee-Set and Aurelia, and many others from up north.

Bring warm stuff. Lots of it. A good sleeping bag and a blanket or two, plus warm jammies. Lots of work-out clothes, in layers. Water water water. Other drinks, too - they weren't able to sell alcohol last year, so bring your own if you want it. Most people do. Snacks, too, although the food is plentiful at meals, and sticks with you for a while (still haven't lost the weight from those stinkin' desserts), so you probably won't need to hit the snack pile too much.

If you watch the Baraka Mundi tribe (those folks who put TribeO together), tribes.tribe.net/barakamundi
they generally put out a packing list before the event. In fact, just go look through their old posts and you'll probably find last year's.

Um, the low down from last year. Hmmm. The classes are awesome, although they can get a bit crowded if they're held in the smaller venues. There's only one big one room, but there are usually multiple classes (four, as Karnsy said) going on at the same time all around the grounds, so if the class you're interested in is in one of the smaller rooms, you may be practicing your collision-avoidance technique. But hey, it's an intimate setting, right? Ask around during the weekend to see who is impressed by which teachers and try to take those classes especially.

Take money for the vendor's tent, but I'm asking everyone right now to keep me well away from it. I don't need any more costume pieces, and I don't have the money for them, so DON'T let me look! Thanks in advance to anyone willing to keep me honest.

And now I will try to continue my regularly scheduled day without getting too goofy over the prospect of going to TribO. Both Ee-Set and I were all dumb in class last night because of it... :-)
