I'm waiting for my registration code so I can go on the support board to verify about privacy. It looks to me that the boards are all private (i.e., not search indexed), unless you choose to give out the URL. That wouldn't prevent our members from sending the URL to non-members who could then still see the boards, however.

I will find out if there is a way to prevent non-members from seeing the board at all (the way yahoo & ebay groups are). I couldn't see a privacy selection in the admin tools.

If there are any privacy issues, I will put them in the header on the forum so everyone is aware of them. Since this is an auxiliary group, I don't think it's a deal breaker.
