HCG for Weight Loss

Has anyone tried the HCG hormone for weight loss. I guess it's done through injections and supposed to be really safe. I am doing pretty good on Weight Watchers and like it but I need a boost. Any one tried it? Anyone know anyone who's tried it?

my MIL has a friend that claims to have dropped fifty pounds in a month using HCG, so the MIL rushed out and ordered herself some... dunno if she has started using it yet, but i'll ask and find out. when visiting her recently, she had pulled a little vial of liquid and some syringes out of her fridge and exclaimed, "look what i'm going to start doing!!!" looks and seems pretty scary to me personally..just fyi, my mother in law has a super f*ed up view on life, much less body image, and is the most superficial person i know, so naturally i ignore a lot of what she has to say when it comes to weight loss, and health in general. the woman tried to tell me i was making my 6 month old fat/ she would grow up to be fat when she saw me feeding her an avocado...crazy...

"my MIL has a friend that claims to have dropped fifty pounds in a month using HCG, "

Wow. I have never heard anyone with any medical integrity say this is a safe amount of weight loss in a month. That is over a pound a day. I would be really skeptical of the claim and the product. PLEASE be careful, you want to do this in a healthy way.

I had never heard of this weight loss diet. I looked it up and it is not used very much here in Ohio yet. But it is getting popular. Very interesting literature. I think there are a lot of people saying positive things more than negative from what I read.

I have read a lot about HCG the last week, this is my main resource www.hcgutah.com/how-hcg-works.htm I also haven't read very much negative info about it online. From what I read online it sounds like if the program is supported and monitored by a physician people seem pretty happy with the results. People that order HCG from random warehouses on line aren't super successful. The FDA has approved HCG for fertility which is also an issue for me. I'm going to do a 40 day program. I will let you know how it goes.

All of these different miracle cures and such; from everything from weight loss to diabetes to salvaging an old mans woodie, makes me kind of nervous. The truth of the matter is, almost none of these drugs that we are given have only a short history of "proven" ability to do anything, let alone be beneficial for whatever "problem" it may be treating. Remember Phen Fen? Remember Metabolife? I do. And so do the families of those who were adversely affected by the medecations. Yes, I know what you may think, and I agree, that some of those people probably were stupid and thought, "if one pill works, I should take 20!". Darwin might have something to say about that too, but that's another thread.

My point is, be careful. When pharmaceutical companies try to tell us they have a cure for obesity and you can lose 100 lbs in a year or less by just taking a pill or two a day....please, I beg you...be skeptical and research it first. Think how recent these discoveries are. They are pretty recent, which means there hasn't been much time for any of them to be tested so we don't know the true effectivness and side effects of these drugs.

Ok...rant is kind of over. I've been overweight pretty much my whole life, with the majority being put on (and off...and on again...and off? again) over the last fifteen years. It's hard. I know this. We fall off the wagon and eat that bag of cookies. But I do know this. When those pharmaceutical companies try to tell us "When diet and excercise fail..." Diet and excercise don't fail. Willpower fails. And that's ok, because it's bound to happen. Yes, I'm sure there are those few exceptions. But I also know, that when I eat more, tends to be the same time I feel a bit depressed, which is about the same time I don't get regular excercise or sun exposure.

Feel free to delete this thread person. I just get frustrated when I hear people groping for the newest and fastest cure for their ailment; be it weight loss or something else. Be safe everyone.

Thank you for your concern, and you are right about quick fix drugs. You are 100% correct, and I know as well as everyone else that they end up killing people. The research I have found has shown to me that this isn't one of those. HCG is a hormone that occurs naturally in a human body. It is basically a hormone therapy that helps people loose weight. This isn't a cure for weight loss, this is something that helps while we learn new behaviors. I will let you know how it goes.

Just be super duper careful. I'm always nervous about messing with hormone levels, blah blah blah dangers and such the like. I've never met anyone who was first person. It's always someone who knew someone who says they lost ____ doing something in a crazy short period of time. What about hanging skin sacks left over? What about organs shutting down. What were the negatives for this woman? For a body to get rid of that much fat in such a short time it seems like there had to be something... I mean, anal leakage perhaps?

ive read about it. some ppl dont know what they are talkin about when it comes to hcg. if u wanna know more about it go to hcgobesity.org or go to a weightloss clinic. it comes from female preggo urine, hcg has been censored for 40 yrs cuz ppl were using it and they never had to worry about gaining the weight back. diets today are not promising, they are not permanent weightloss but hcg is permanent for life. its natural, if ur gonna buy it then buy it pure not synthetic. im in a lot of yahoo groups on hcg, there is a lot of shit when it comes to anything thats natural that ur own gov doesnt want u to know or use. when i get the money, im gonna buy it and lose weight.

it resets ur hypothalamus gland in ur brain. read dr atw simeons book pounds and inches or kevin trudeau's book the weightloss cure. know ur info b4 u go believing it doesnt work or whatever, try it out and see for urself...

I have been on my HCG program for just over a month and have lost 23 lbs. I have followed the protocol about 95%. I haven't weighed every serving of meat and I've deviated from the plan 3 times. Ideal results are a 1lb loss per day. I have 2 more weeks on the protocol then 3 weeks of follow up high protein, no grains, no sugar diet. I feel pretty good. I'm looking forward to adding in other proteins again. I think HCG is a good option if someone has a significant amount of weight to loose and they have tried other plans that are ment to alter bad habits. It's absoultly a better option than surgury. My weight is a never ending battle, HCG is not a cure but it is a good tool if followed correctly and monitored by a doctor. I would be very wary of any online purchase of HCG, going to a repuatble Doctor is key.
