Sorry I haven't been on in awhile. Seems like when I have time to post, tribe won't let me on.
So I've been taking Phentermine for a little over 2 months now. The first month, I took it every day. Second month, the doctor cut me back to every other day.
First month, I lost 7 lbs. and I lost the same amount the second month, for a grand total so far of 14 lbs. WHEE!!!!
I've been lucky. Haven't really experienced any of the side effects of Phentermine. It seems to help me control the mid-workday stressed out munchies and gives me enough of an energy boost that I have been getting to the gym 3-4 days per week.
And, since my boyfriend and I broke up in these past two months (after 5 years), the fact that I didn't go into a total chocolate meltdown means it must be helping. Of course, it was a very civilized, almost friendly, breakup, so I'm sure that helped too.
I go back to the doctor at the end of this month and I'm hoping to have lost about the same amount. At this rate, by my 42 birthday, I should be back where I want to be and maybe ready to consider facing the dating world again (Eeeeeeeeek!!!).

Re: Phentermine update
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 7:48 AMNo, definitely not taking it for the rest of my life. Last month and this month, it's been every other day. Probably next month, we'll move it to like every three days. Ease off it. Because I have a horrible memory, since I don't take it every day, I often forget to take it on the days when I'm supposed to. And I'm still doing okay. It was really more of a kickstart to get me out of the bad habits and moving forward to good habits. Now that I'm in the groove, it's not needed as much. Although, I do admit that on days when I get really stressed out, I find it easier to NOT snack if I have taken it. But since I'm forcing myself to only keep healthy type snacks around, I'm limiting my options on days when I can't resist the snack urge.
The biggest thing for me was that it gave me the energy there at the beginning to get me to the gym on a regular basis. Now that it is getting to be more of a habit to go to the gym, I go even when I don't really feel like it. -

Re: Phentermine update
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 9:35 AMI believe that I'm going to ask my dr about this.
Does it cause sleep problems? I already medicate for those, but it would help to know...
lack of energy is one of my biggest downfalls!
(and right now my ankle injury that doesn't seem to want to heal... *sigh* ) -

Re: Phentermine update
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 10:57 AMOK from the website: www.phentermine.com/adipex.htm, these are the possible side effects:
Restlessness
Excess energy
Insomnia
Euphoria
Dysphoria
Difficulty in breathing
Dizziness
Weakness
Ankle and extremity Swelling
Increase in blood pressure
Excessive fatigue
Headache
Dryness of the mouth
Unpleasant taste
Diarrhea, Constipation
Impotence
Changes in libido
But, like I said, I really haven't had any problems. I do have some dry mouth, but that's something I can tolerate. I'm prone to insomnia already, but I haven't seen any increase or additional problems due to the medication.

Re: Phentermine update
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 5:11 PMWOW! It sounds like a miracle! Did you get your script from your Internist, Family Pract, or OBGYN, if you don't mind me asking.
I might recommend it to my sister. She's tried everything and nothing seems to help her life long. She's a yoyo dieter where as I tend to stay the same and slowly, we're talking years here, lose weight. Sis can lose 25 pounds in a month, but not me. I wonder if it would help her. She needs a lifestyle change and not "instant" gratification.
I'm still listening to the subliminal CD and I really think it's helping. I've lost about seven pounds since about July. This is great for me. I don't do anything fast :-)
Thanks and congrats again,
Azeeza

Re: Phentermine update
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 11:06 AMIt was prescribed by my regular GP. We had discussed my desire to lose weight and the fact that I was having a lot of problems with energy and feeling lethargic. I had already done a lot of online research about Phentermine and came in with printouts from various websites.
We discussed it. He agreed to put me on it for one month and see how it went, but made me promise to let him know if I experienced any type of side effects. After one month, he agreed to let me continue on it, but we cut it back to every other day.
If she's a yo-yo dieter, this may not be that much of a help, since it can help lose weight now, but it is not a long term type of medication. IN fact, in all of the information about it, they emphasize that it is only for short term use.

Re: Phentermine update
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 10:05 AMThanks for the advice. I might tell my sis about the subliminal CD that I'm using. It's not potentially harmful.
