Dahlia's dancing defies categories. She is neither Egyptian or Tribal, Fusion or Gypsy, but she is all of these rolled into one. She does not just interpret the music; she oozes it. Whether it is Middle Eastern, Jazz, Balinese or Japanese, music is part of her being. This is what you see when you watch Dahlia dance: the essence of music in physical form.

**Shimmy Madness**
Start the day off with a great warm up! Learn many different shimmy concepts & then have fun with a wild shimmy workout! 10:00am-12:00pm

12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch
Many wonderful vendors will be at the dojo for a fun & easily accessible shopping experience! Vending will be available 1 hour before workshops, during lunch, and for a little while after workshops.

**Improvisation and Music Interpretation**
Learn how to break down music and interpret it easily. This is for soloists and for working out choreography. 1:00pm-3:00pm

Durga Tour in Wyoming?

Greetings everyone - I'm trying to make connections for a possible stop of the 2009 Durga Tour in Wyoming, ideally along I-80, but depending on the connecting stops, we could possibly do I-25 instead.

If you haven't heard of the Durga Tour, in 2006,I organized the first Durga Tour - which brought Gothic & Sacred Fusion
Bellydance to 25 states over 40 days. It was very successful with full classes consistently across the country, and we've had a lot of requests to expand our coverage even further. We're doing it again in 2009, broadening our offerings (the subjects work for all styles of bellydancers and musicians as well). We're considering adding a Wyoming stop on 5/31

Hello all! I'm now taking orders for DVD's from the Yellowstone Valley Bellydance Festival 2008! We've finally compiled all the performances onto one DVD (the show was 3 hrs long!!!) Now we're ready to ship 'em out!

Free Lodging for Yellowstone Valley Bellydance Festival Participants!

If you're participating in the Yellowstone Valley Bellydance Festival we've got a free place for you to stay! We have a spacious clean dojo located in downtown Billings (close to Metra Park) that can accomodate up to 80 people! If you don't mind bringing your sleeping bag and pillow and crashing out on the floor, we'd love for you to stay! There are two bathrooms, a LONG wall of full-length mirrors and plenty of practice space. If you want to practice before the show and get ready, this is a great spot!
Also, the Montana State Fair will be located just a few blocks away from the dojo... SO, if you arrive early and want to hang out at the fair for fun, it's right there!

Please, contact me if you'd like to stay with us at the dojo and we'll make arrangements!

Yellowstone Valley Bellydance Festival

Raks Alimah Bellydance is proud to announce the Yellowstone Valley Bellydance Festival on August 16, 2008 in Billings, Montana! The show will be at Venture Theater in downtown Billings from 7-10pm.

It will be a fun filled night celebrating the enigmatic art of bellydance! We'll have cabaret, tribal-fusion, tribaret and more! Anything goes! We want to showcase all the different facets of this art and the joy each dancer brings to the show!

We'd love to have you dance with us! Please, let me know if you're interested in performing! The more the merrier! We're gonna have a blast =)

The 16th is the last night of Montana Fair. So.... If you would like to come down you could also enjoy the fair during the day (lots of fair food, rides, concerts, shows, etc!) And then that night, you can dance with us!

Raks Alimah Bellydance Troupe is the Billings troupe that is sponsoring this festival. We have lots of members and depending on your group sizes, we may have places for you to stay!

Kara Nomadica CD update!!!

Good morning everyone!
We are pleased to announce that we are going through the final bits of recording and editing before we send our tracks off to be mastered and mass-produced! Hopefully we will have the LP ready to sell sometime in April.

We are very grateful to those of you who have prepaid the LP for being so patient with us. We really tried to get this thing finished this winter, and we apologize that this didn't happen--we want to provide you with the best possible recordings, so instead of rushing the album out we decided to postpone it.
That being said, we are VERY pleased with the results so far and will be delivering to you a professional product.

Once we release the album we will be putting together a CD release party and will be available for touring around later this year.
If you are putting together a bellydance workshop weekend somewhere and want a great live band drop us a line!!!

Another bulletin will be sent out the day we send the tracks out with a more precice release date!
Thank you for all of your amazing support and wonderful compliments.
We couldn't do this without such amazing fans and audience!

Come join us for an evening of dancing to the live music of Kara Nomadica and enjoy dance performances by area belly dancers: both professionals and students!

The evening will include open dancing to the fabulous music of the middle eastern fusion band Kara Nomadica. Their sound is inspired by traditional Arabic and Turkish rhythms and maqamat (scales) as well as modern industrial/techno music. It is their goal to not only appeal to the masses, but especially to the belly dance community. They play traditional instruments such as oud, saz, darabuka, doumbek, riq, frame drum, daholla, davul, ney and mizmar. Why have canned music when live music is available?! The evening will also include performances by Marjorie & Mirage, the Mirage School of Dance students, and guest performers! Performances will take place to the live music or during band breaks.

We are adding some fun fundraising activities to the Belly Bash! A very close friend of ours has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Many of you know him as "Big Ed" who has always run our sound at the Desert Dreams shows. Finances are always rough at times like these so we are planning a few things during the Belly Bash that will help out the family with their finances. We will be holding a Raffle for two wonderful items; one belly dancing item and one non-belly dancing item from Gypsy Treasures and a Fabulous Dessert Bar filled with tasty delicacies to top off your evening! Because of the Dessert Bar we ask that the finger food you bring to share not be a sweet.

Water will be available. No alcohol is allowed at the Community Center please.
