<div>In magick, death is more than just the breaking of the body. Its meaning encompasses any kind of transformation and breaking down of the old ways. Black magick is destruction, nullification, and creative transformation. It is not about slaying or hexing, which was dealt with in war magic. It is about dying, change and renewal. Virgo is a spiritual refinement, cleansing, and change of self. It creates purity of mind and body. Wherever Virgo turns a discriminating eye, the goal is efficient transformation of energy so that the ideal can be made real with as little interference from the personality as possible. Virgo creates life without an intermediary, and the end path is a hermitage. Virgo has a strong link with the Greek God Hephaistos (Latin Vulcan), who may be the ruler of this sign. Hephaistos is the God of Techne, which means “acting as nature acts.” The servile nature of Virgo is a service to the spirit of nature. Virgo is also connected with illness and healing. Virgo rules over that period in historical development which follows the heroic age, with its glorification of the individual, and the assumption of spiritual authority by the separative ego. This period disrupted the unity of the world, disregarded the primacy of soul, and severed us from our Spiritual Source. The task of Virgo is the re-membering or healing of this split. Hexagram #18 in the I Ching system is called Working on Spoil and Decay, and provides insights into Virgo’s task. <br/> <br/>The sign of Capricorn seeks to unite the heights and depths of human experience, like a yin-yang. Ultimately, Capricorn does not play favorites as it manifests order, balance, and truth. The association of the Devil with this sign defines the negative side to this attempt at bringing divine order to manifest on earth. In the Devil there is imposed truth. The problem is seldom with the principles Capricorn seeks to uphold, but that they kindle the ego’s need to dominate and accrue spiritual power. Capricorn is often associated with materiality, empiricism, formalization, rigidity, and crystallization. By the same token, it also embodies the principle of the crystal, the diamond body, which represents the materialization of light or illumined awareness. The goal or way to which this sign is deadicated is the full manifestation of spirit, in and through matter or life. Non-personal describes the Capricornian attitude well. Capricorn is also associated with karmic responsibility. Whatever happens under the influence of this sign will come into being to endure. As life advances, the crystallization of Capricorn becomes a prison for the expanding consciousness. It becomes brittle, an empty form oppressive to the life force, and is ultimately shattered, sending Capricorn back to the depths to contact the prima materia of experience. This shattering, or fall, constitutes an initiation into more inclusive understanding; the building and structuring activity begins again on a higher notch in the spiral. Psychologically, the Capricornian pattern reveals this rising and falling movement. Through many such experiences Capricorn develops a state of true humility and the contradictory heights of attainment or loss cease to matter. Capricorn’s rulership of the knees symbolizes this state of humility. It sacrifices itself into spirit, dedicates the use of spirit to renewing and maintaining the integrity of the collective world. To will a "death" of evil and ill, the following ritual may be performed: <br/> <br/>Materials Needed <br/> <br/> * A Baphomet pentacle <br/> * A sack of wheat seeds <br/> * Five geodes <br/> * A shovel <br/> <br/>Process <br/> <br/>Dig a flat hole in the ground. Get down on the knees and place the Baphomet pentacle into the hole upside down so that the inverted pentacle is itself reversed. In this sense we are manifesting spirit, not banishing it. There will be some destructive banishing going on though. Place a geode at the base of the pentacle, between the two bottom points. Geodes are lava crystals that are here used to symbolize the virginal or asexual blood and matter of the earth. As you place it, say, “Banished is the spirit of the Devil. The damnation of Earth is dissolved along with it." Place a geode between the upper and left points of the pentacle. As you place it, say, “Vanished is the rage of the Devil. The fire blood of Earth is peaceful.” Place a geode between the lower right and top right points of the pentacle and say, “Gone with the wind is the devil. Earth breathes a pure sky.” Place a geode between the lower left and upper left points of the pentacle and say, “Evaporating is the Earth of the anguish of the Devil. Earth is beyond anguish.” Place a geode between the top and upper right points of the pentacle and say, “Vanquished is the devil from the body of the earth. Earth is holy.” Take out a pinch of wheat seeds and place it in the lower left point of the pentacle. As you do so, say “Through death, a new body of earthen nature.” Place a pinch of wheat seeds in the upper right point of the pentacle. As you do so, say “Through death, a new feeling of love.” Place a pinch of wheat seeds in the upper left point of the pentacle.
