Re: Dec 8 Bangor Show Make up Workshop
Tue, November 13, 2007 - 1:07 PMMakeup Recommendations
My suggestions (all drugstore/target/walmart availability and personal experience) are all listed in parentheses.
if there is an allergy to a product, please select something similar in a non allergic brand.
~make up sponge~ (or you can use fingers)
~a mirror~ (one that is manageable in hands.)
~3 or 4 brushes~ - A contoured larger blush brush and a smaller brush for contouring , and 2 eyeshadow brushes
~headband~ - or something to keep hair out of face
~razor or tweezers~ ( if you have already shaped your brows, or have no interest in shaping brows skip this, but bring clear mascara)
~Baby Wipes~
~Moisturizer~ - is a must!
~BASE~ - match jawline, or inner arm near elbow. (Bare minerals foundation(powdery), Dream Matte Mousse by maybelline, Truematch by Loreal (liquid - ) *****If you have chosen a liquid base, please make sure your powder is one shade lighter than the base and that you ahve a bronzer.
~concealer - this is optional, but recommended if you have dark circles or bags ~ (Maybelline -Age Rewind under eye Concealer) must be a shade LIGHTER than base
~YELLOW Stick~ - hides dark spots and circles, ~GREEN stick~ neutralizes red areas.
~Clear mascara~ if you have alot of eyebrow hair
~Eyebrow pencil~ -
--- Blondes, and red heads, the brow color should be a shade darker than your CURRENT hair color.
--- if you have black hair or dark hair I suggest a blackish brown color NOT jet black. Jet black is too harsh unless you have very dark skin and black hair
NYC has pencils that are good. OR pick an eyeshadow shade that matches.
~blush or bronzer~ - if you are fairskinned choose a rich apricot/rose color (Rimmel -Bronze or sierra rose) OR Maybelline Mousse Blush - OR- A BRONZER.
- If you a not fairskinned and especially dark or tan you need a deep plum or mauve ( I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Revlons Golden Affair MERLOT AT MIDNIGHT 435 for all skin tones. this can also double for eyeshadow)
~Eyeliner pencil~ - Black.... yes black for all eyes preferably kohl - This is for fancier egyptian eyes and extra facial drawings (I highly suggest CoverGirls perfect point plus, or one from HIP pigments by Loreal)
**NEW** I am replacing my reccommendation for the Almay Liquid liner with My new favorite black liner is the GEL LIQUID LINER from HIP Pigments Loreal. It is very sweat proof. it comes in a little pot and a little angled brush. There are also other color available aside from black I recommend any and all. However, Almay liquid liner is certainly still usable.
~Mascara~ - BLACK YES! - (intense volume XXL from maybelline, or telescoping from loreal ( or something like it in waterproof)
~Eyelashes - and glue~ - if you are wanting to learn how to apply and wear.
~Eyeshadow~ - 2 or 1 colors, a dark shade and a light shade if you choose to bring only one color, choose dark. - (My preferences will ALWAYS lean to LOREAL HIP pigments. any color duo will suffice. If you are looking from drama choose one that has a deep dramatic color. yes even black, or go for bold and brilliant)
~Highlighter~ - Ivory, white or champagne color, can be eyeshadow (Maybelline shadow stylist in elegant pearl - looks like a liquid liner bottle) OR (HIP pigments ivory -little container with a brush)
This will be also use for contouring cheeks.
~contour shadow ~- A powder or base that is a couple shades darker than your regular base make sure it is matte. (maybelline single eyeshadow in creme de cocoa works for several skin shades. Deep cocoa or burgundy works for darker shades of skin, If you are fair skinned Use the bronzer without a shimmer.)
~lips~ - A liner that is a neutral lip shade or a few shades darker than your lip color and a brownish red lipstick or purple for more drama ( For perfect red lips I recommend LOREAL HIP in DRIVEN 778. For a long lasting stain stay I recommend Max factor's Maxwear double ended gloss in Chartreuse blend (yes trust me it works for all)
*****
These are NOT required but recommendations for a LONG lasting product to ward off clogged pores and keep make up on during long events.
Make-Up Forever Mist & Fix-
A light and comfortable spray that sets all types of makeup and prolongs hold, even under extreme conditions. Alcohol-free formula, makeup is protected by a light, invisible film that feels comfortable on the skin. Enriched with chitosan, a marine algae extract, this makeup fixer spray protects skin against external damage caused by temperature changes, pollution, and other possible irritants.
OR
Smash box Photo finish primer - a clear gel very light foundation primer . If you don't want to use a super heavy primer. Keeps your foundations from sweating off and clogging pores.
Both these items are available at Sephora.com and ebay. -
