Geek Craft: Lorenz equations chaos theory in crochet form

http://www.craftycrafty.tv/2007/07/geek_craft_lorenz_equations_ch.html#more
It took Dr Osinga 85 hours and over 25,511 stitches to create the 3 dimensional version of the equations, which they named 'The Lorenz Manifold'. The model stands around one metre tall, and over 25 centimetres wide, and hangs in the couples home as a decoration. It's not just a simple adornment however, as it helps scientists to valuable insights into how chaos arises.

If you would like to make your own Lorenz Manifold, just in time for Christmas, you can find the pattern here

and I'm a yarn junkie.

My sister got pregnant & I started crocheting ~ now I can't stop.
I've always been a closet crafter, but my yarn habit is really starting to get out of control.....
Sometimes, I find myself waiting, outside on the sidewalk, for Atelier Yarns in SF to open
(opens at noon & closed Sun & Mon ~ aaargh!)

Yarn, Glorious Yarn

I'm in love with Rio de la Plata. I can't stop buying it. It is soft and knits up wonderfully unevenly, in other words, it has a very handspun look, along with the mottled texture from kettle dying.
But I love wool in general. I love the way it smells, the way it feels, and I love to spin it too! Some of mt other faves are Noro, Cascade 220 when I need something basic but good colors, Manos del Uruguay also has beautiful colors, and Handspunyarns.com.

My stash is getting a little hard to handle at this point, taking up a corner of the bedroom. I have tried to cull it a bit lately, but to no avail. I get rid of or trade a few skeins, only to buy more. Heh. There are worst addictions to have I suppose. At least we have something to show for ours. I don't hear any complaints when it's time for presents!
