Harrison Parker Tyler, better known as Parker Tyler was born March 6, 1904, in New Orleans and died in 1974. He was an author, poet and film critic.

He co-authored The Young and Evil (Obelisk Press, 1933) with Charles Henri Ford, an energetically experimental novel with obvious debts to fellow Villager Djuna Barnes, and also to Gertrude Stein, who called it "the novel that beat the Beat Generation by a generation."

A writer for the journal Film Culture, Tyler is one of the few film critics to write extensively on experimental film and underground film. His Screening the Sexes is thought to be the first book-length study of homosexuality in film.

Patrick Califia (formerly known as Pat Califia; born 1954 near Corpus Christi, Texas) is a writer about women's sexuality and of erotic fiction. He is also a bisexual transman and prolific author of essays and poetry.

Califia was born female, into a Mormon family. She came out as a lesbian in 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and changed her name to Pat Califia, taking the surname Califia after the mythical Amazon. After getting involved in consciousness-raising work in the area she bought herself a one-way ticket to San Francisco in 1973, bringing an interest in sex education to work on the San Francisco Sex Information switchboard.

Her first book was Sapphistry, a non-fiction work that described butch-femme sexuality and BDSM safety and practice without being judgmental. Further work was published in lesbian, gay and feminist magazines. Research work she did while taking a degree in psychology at San Francisco State University was published in the Journal of Homosexuality in 1979.

With the founding of SAMOIS, Califia's interests moved into the lesbian experience of BDSM and contributions to the book Coming to Power published by Alyson Publications. In 1996 Califia was co-editor (with Robin Sweeney) of the sequel The Second Coming: A Leatherdyke Reader. Califia founded the leatherwomen's quarterly Venus Infers in 1992.

During this period Califia was also writing on queer theory and gender identity, coming to terms with personal issues. It was at this time that Califia made the decision to transition to a male gender role. Califia undertook testosterone hormone therapy and changed his name to Patrick.

Since the 1990s, Patrick has suffered with fibromyalgia, which has caused nerve damage in his legs and hands and reduced his ability to type or write. He is currently (2006) in private practice as a therapist (he is a licensed marriage therapist and family therapist in the state of California). He continues to publish his work and attend leather community events. He is also the proud father of a six year old boy.

Patrick most recent book is "Boy in the Middle" a collection of erotic stories. He is currently working on a number of other projects including a book on FTM sexuality.
It is believed that he is the author whose works are most often seized by Canadian Customs.

The only online evidence I have at this moment is the fact it was stated on his bio on wikipedia. (where he is also referenced as being a in the gay actor category, which could be a mistake but had heard of his orientation way before I heard of wikipedia)

I have read it in articles dealing with plays and stage work he has done in recent years.

It has been mentioned in the local Chicago Gay papers as well, a good handful of times (He is from WI, so that is close enough for the Chicago papers to claim him as a local boy)

Will this do for now Aster?

I always thought Travanti was very handsome too & had no idea he was gay. Do many people know Marlon Brando was bi / predominantly gay? Was James Dean really bi?

For the James Dean thing check the post on his Birthday. His former fiance (the mother of Jerry on Seinfield) admitted that Dean had a love affair with a male director of his. Jack Larson (who played Jimmy Olsen in the old 50's Superman show) has said that he turned down a three way with James Dean and a actor Dean was seeing at the time.

For Brando I dont know if most people know he was bi. He was very open about it. I just cant believe that he slept with Wally Cox (Miss Hathaways bird watching boyfriend on The Beverly Hillbillies) They were roomates and slept together. Ick. In fact if you ever saw the infamous pic of Marlon sucking a dick. The dick was that of Wally Cox.

                  Standards of beauty

Wally Cox isn't icky if you like thin, funny, intelligent men.

There really is someone for everyone. I'm sure a lot of gay men would think Rock Hudson was nuts for loving Jim Nabors based only on American standards of masculine beauty. But obviously Hudson responded to something deeper than traditional good looks.

We should all be so blind.

            the TOU guy? Who dat?
also.. if a link to the pic we want of Brando is posted, can that be deleted as well? Why are people in tribes that offend them? I don't get it.

People flag things because they are assholes.
The Tribe TOU Guy flags things because that's his job. I'm just not sure now if when a tribe member flags something if they just tell you it's the TOU guy? The terms of use state no erections & no sex acts are allowed. There can still be alot of sexy nude pix posted. I think all pix should be able to be posted but even if we abide by the rules it's still subject to someone elses discretion. For example, one I've provided before, I post 2 pix & one is obviously "erect" and the other one even though I know it's not was deemed too erect by the tou guy apparently. I figure we can post whatever we want and see if it passes. : )
