im sitting here ready to pull my hair out, making some of the silliest mistakes while sewing. and then it occured to me how many of us have hemmed a whole circle skirt before we realized we had no bobbin thread? how may of us have sewn things inside out upside down and backwards?
its time to share...
maybe others wont make the same mistakes, maybe it will just spread some smiles...

Re: show and tell
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 3:29 PMlet's just say that the first time I made it through an entire skirt *without* having sewn one of the seams inside out was a major victory. ;-)

Re: show and tell
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 11:09 PMif i don't rip at least one seam out of a costume before finishing it, then I must have been drunk while sewing again. (it also means that material didn't have a front side or back side to it, no nap, and it was all squares). My most tragic mistake so far was realizing that i had cut the back panel of my Junior prom dress upside down, meaning the shimmer in the satin was wrong. I didn't notice this until after i had stitched it into the dress. Which then took 2 days to take out all the seams without damaging the other satin panels and then going and purchasing more satin of the same color and getting the fall correct. Satin is not a forgiving material.
