Yoga Mob is please to present The Handstand Ball, an extraordinary night of music and spectacle.

The Handstand Ball is a night designed to build in musical intensity and exuberance. The show opens with the brutally beautiful and dreamlike music of Zoe Keating and culminates in a wild gypsy brass spectacle of improvised chaos.

To learn more about the event, visit The Handstand Ball’s MySpace Page at www.myspace.com/handstandball . Here, you can listen to the

trimming. We can't do it without you. Come out and see the show!

The Cast of Characters:

Zoe Keating
www.myspace.com/zoecello

The Handstand Ball will open at 9 pm with world acclaimed avant-cellist, Zoe Keating. Her performance will be punctuated with an accompaniment by yoga ritual performers, The MahaMudras.

Zoë uses layers and layers of cello to create densely textured, rhythmically and melodically rich landscapes of sound. Her music appeals to a wide spectrum of listeners, from fans of post-punk to acoustic ambient to classical. Melancholy seeps into every note of her music

Zoe Keating was a founding member of cello-rock group Rasputina, co-founded by Nirvana cellist Melora Creager. Currently, she thrives on live performance and improvisation. Zoë tours extensively, opening for artists like Imogen Heap. Keating has appeared on records ranging from DJ Shadow's latest to albums by Tarentel, John Vanderslice, the Court and Spark, and Michael Talbott & the Wolfkings, among others. Her
album, One Cello x 16 Natoma hit No. 2 among iTunes' classical downloads.

Jason Webley
www.myspace.com/jasonwebley

Jason Webley’s combination of folk, gypsy, and punk is most often compared to Tom Waits or Vladimir Vysotsky but also draws from Leonard Cohen, Shel Silverstein, Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nick Cave and the Dead Kennedys.

Some of Webley's most famous songs are the apocalyptic "Dance While the Sky Crashes Down" (which appears on his album Against the Night), and his most common show finale, "The Drinking Song" (which appears on Counterpoint). During "The Drinking Song" the audience is asked to sing in a drunken stupor:

If the glass is full
drink up, drink up
this may be the last time we see this cup.
If God wanted us sober
he'd knock the glass over
so while it is full
we drink up.

Jason completes his Eastern-European tour on March 12th. He will be making this one West-Coast appearance before he departs for the East-Coast. Webley also performs annually at several festivals including Burning Man, Whole Earth Festival, and the Glastonbury Festival.

The Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club
www.myspace.com/thegomorrans

Baptism by moonshine must be a wonderful thing, if the music of the Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club is any indication. Dunk me in the river, with one hand on my head and the other on the Good Book, I say, because this, friends, is glorious release. Preaching a sweaty, red-faced gospel of saturnalian abandon, cleansing the soul through Mardi Gras immoderation, these N’Awlins-infatuated ragtime pranksters deliver sinfully divine horn-and-banjo celebrations of the good life, circa 1920. With songs such as “Whiskey Paycheck” in their repertoire, the Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club will leave you with no choice but to bear witness to their holy spirit.

Knees and Elbow
www.myspace.com/kneesandelbows

Knees and Elbows are the most awkward and flexible parts of the human anatomy... Some people reminisce about certain sexual positions, while others remember their track coach yelling "Knees and elbows! Knees and
Elbows!" An ungainly, maladroit teen, can be colloquially derided as "All knees and elbows."

Ultra Gypsy

Out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Ultra Gypsy is an innovative dance theater company founded in 1996 by visionary dancer and choreographer Jill Parker.

We are Gypsies for today's world, wandering in a maze of modernity. We are a myriad of cultures, old and new, picking up what we need and defying the taboos that bind us. We are modern and primitive, urban and tribal, medusa and machine.

Freakotronic

Freakotronic is Miami booty bass party ruckus from Sean Kelly (of Spanganga infamy) and his bevvy of no-holds barred backup dancers.Southern fried booty rap with positive pseudo lyrics and hella dancers. You bring the PAM we'll bring the buffing chamois.
