Class description: Yoga is one of the most accessible forms of
movement, and round bodies can perform and benefit from many of the
same poses that sleek, active bodies can. This class is meant to be a
safe and comfortable space for the absolute beginner as well as the
yoga afficionado; the pace is slow, thoughtful and meditative, and the
instructor offers a challenging version of each pose for more advanced
students. Each class is tailored to the physical abilities of those in
attendance. Katy Bell has been working with a small group of Big Grrls
for the last year to create this class especially for women* of size
and their strengths. She gives you the credit you deserve for showing
up, and focuses on the end result: walking away feeling great.

*for now this class is open only to women and invited male guests to
create a comfortable space for participants. it will evolve as the
group does so check back with this site for updates.

About Katy Bell:

About the teacher: Katy Bell has been teaching yoga for six years,
studying and practicing for 10 mostly locally here in San Francisco.
She is heavily influenced by the work of Judith Lasater and Betty Roi,
as well as Tony Briggs and Ana Forrest. Katy teaches an
Iyengar-influenced Hatha Yoga class that employs humor and detailed
instruction, and emphasizes making real contact with the self.

About the class: Let's practice with the intention to balance energy
and connect with our bodies. My classes are generally tailored to the
needs of the participants--physical, mental, emotional, or
energetic--as determined that day. Beginners are welcome, this will be
an all level practice.

About Jonathan Reynolds:

Jonathan Reynolds has completed teacher trainings with the White Lotus
Foundation, Erich Schiffmann, Darren Main, BaronBaptiste and Greenpath
Yoga.

He is the founder of Learning To Listen, a global community dedicated
to spreading tools for conscious living, and has written two books:
Poetic Listening and Learning To Listen: Simplifying Spiritual
Practice; and has created a meditation CD - Learning To Listen:
Simplifying Meditation.

His yoga class can be both physically and mentally challenging, yet
remains beginner friendly. By using vinyasa (roughly sun salutations)
as yoga's physical building block, we can realize the breath as the
building block of consciousness. Yoga as meditation allows us to
experience life's honesty by transcending perceived limitations,
building in organic ways an appreciation of love, patience,
generosity, and union. Both seated meditation and chanting are used as
part of the experience.
