At the Envisioning meeting the topic was brought up concerning bringing energy into ZMS so it can be a healing center. I would love to hear what others have to say on this.

I think the healing center is a great idea. I also think that infrastructure, communication, and general relations on the land would improve with a sense of purpose and a goal. I think that creating a healing center could be that goal. Working toward making ZMS comfortable for clients with private space, clean common areas, and healing environment is working toward making ZMS comfortable for those who live there as well. Motivation is a good thing.

The question I have is what has changed at ZMS that makes this a viable option?

Has ZMS healed itself? Is there clear and honest communication? Is there a financial structure that can handle a business like this? Is there a true desire to work together as a community and get over individual issues in service to a higher cause?

10 months ago, when I left, the answer to these questions was no. What has changed over that time? Someone please fill me in. I have only heard news from a trickle of sources. I have been through my own process of healing and a lot of that has involved putting ZMS out of my thoughts. I had a lot of pain connected to ZMS (and still to some degree do). I felt angry at myself that I fell prey to petty bullshit, frustrated with the community at the level of sabotage and egotistical nonsense. BUt through all that, i did change and I did heal, and because of that I know that ZMS IS a healing center. It's just a little out of focus, kind of fuzzy and messy.

I think in order to open ZMS as a healing center and put out that call, there has to be more structure, more clarity, more focus and respect, and more discipline to hold to these standards. When I was at ZMS, I often had the feeling that the only way to heal it, was to shut it down for a bit, kick everyone off the land, have it maintained by those who live off-land, until such a time that there is a critical mass of people who truly want to live together, with a healing and magical focus, and are willing to attempt to work it all out. It's sort of an outside-in approach, as the inside-out approach of fixing from within what's already there, hasn't seemed to be working...or has it? What's happened this past winter and spring?

While I can't say that everything is 'fixed' at ZMS, there has been some definite progress. For the first time in many months I see stewards working together. I hear more we's than I's. I hear a willingness to move forward. As a result of the envisioning meeting we had last Saturday, the stewards have agreed to look into finding facilitators to have both a communications workshop as well as a workshop on consensus. The greater community wants to help in moving ZMS forward and believes that having a more defined focus would be of great help. That is where the idea of a healing center comes from. We realize that there are a great many changes that are still needed both in personal relations and physical infrastructure but we believe we need to start somewhere and getting the greater community involved is part of that. I’m sorry Jerako if you had such a negative experience while you were there. I know for the five years that I lived there my experience was one of great joy and growth and I am willing to do whatever possible to see that at ZMS again.

My time at ZMS was not entirely negative, it was an immense time of growth for me as well, and for that, I'm very grateful. I'm glad to hear that things are moving more towards wholeness and clear communication. That is all I care about. If things are moving in that direction, that I support what is going on and will do what I can from here. I haven't spoken really with alot of you and I had to clear the air for me as to why I left and what I needed to work through. It was by no means a condemnation of ZMS or my time there. I love that place and want to see it grow and become healthy and whole.

Right now, I'm working on creating Ritual theater here in Portland. I've been working for several months on a very powerful piece that works through the chakras and uses energy work to create an immersive environment. My dream is to bring this play, this troupe to ZMS, to workshop there, to perform there, to provide healing through theater, performance, and the arts. I would love to see that happen, even as soon as next year. I am here and I'm a resource, I just want to make sure that there is honest communication.

I know from past experience that often the information that is sent out to the greater community is a mix of gloss over and wishful thinking. I want to make sure that the communication I receive is real and honest and straightforward. If this seems negative to you, please don't read it as such. It's simply the only form of communication I can deal with. Thank you Owl...I miss you and love you...have a great day...

I would like to express my gratitude for all persuns who attended the Envisioning Meeting held on the land last weekend. The effects of which are still resonating throughout the community on the land.

My deciscion to stay in this community is based on a dedication to foster social harmony and transpersunal actualization for self and others. Bridging the gaps between idealism and practicality are sometimes challenging in community.

              Subject Subject Healing

              Thu, August 4, 2005 - 1:59 PM
Subject-Subject Consciousness is an ethical ideal and a religious view of the world. It orients us toward ourselves and each other; it guides our spiritual community and our personal spirit quests; it balances the imbalance of domination, aggression and exploitation.

-from the ZMS Book of Bilaws

              ---------------------------------

              A Quote by Harry Hay

"Humanity must expand its experience from persons (subjects) thinking objectively - thinking competitively (in a nut-shell, thinking opportunistically and nearly always in terms of self advantage) - to thinking in terms of loving-sharing-consensus. Humanity must expand its experience to thinking of another, that other, not as Object (to be used manipulated, mastered, consumed) but as Subject (as another like him/her self, another self to be respected - to be appreciated - to be cherrished)."

there are interested people out at ZMS, and they are making things change, I still question wether I can live there. is this my character flaw? I find the place beautiful. and unfortunatley, I can't see any kind of public forum being able to deal with what's ACTUALLY going on at ZMS.. or perhaps that's what the envisioning circle was about, and it will sjut take time to work it's way in. while I would love to see a healing center, it must first happen that the peopel on the land heal themsleves. this is happening to a large degree, but not with everyone.

I was able to use the energies of the gathering last year, along with entheogenic help to quit smoking cigarettes after 10 years of pack-a-day smoking. and it strangely changed my relationships with smokers. not all, but some...enough to be noticeable. some peopel want to heal in ways that others aren't ready for yet. and honestly, it ain't cigarrette smoke that's cloudin up the picture at ZMS. and I'm as guilty of THAT as anyone.

part of the problem, is while we all desire healing, we heal at different paces regarding different things.

oh well, let life be what it is. I'm just trying to learn not to complain, but not to be walked on.

Hi Owl and everyone! It's nice to be connected here with all of you.

The short visit I had with you folks in July was awesome and soul-enriching for me. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I think the idea of bringing more focus to ZMS is great. The concept of a community focused on healing (itself, the land, others) seems to be a theme that has come up often and resonates to me personally. But I think many people will have many different ideas of the direction things should go... I just hope that a direction is found, because the great energy that is at the community, and is around the community and that comes to the community from outside will just be wasted if no decision is made on how to focus those energies.

in relation to this healign center, can we look at reducing the amount of food being bought at walmart, and try to get more organic stuff from the tucson cooperative warehouse?

ORGANIC FOODS HELP PEOPLE FELL BETTER BECAUSE THEY ARE NOURISHING. WALMART FOOD IS NOT NOURISHING.

and especially, if "rent" for stewards is raised, then between three of us, a minimum monthly order could be placed.

Thanks to all who have been attending our weekly heart circles on the land.

Since our envisioning meeting we have decided to meet weekly to better the flow of communications on the land.

Heart circle have really been a healpful tool for us in maintaining "real" communications with one another and for those who call ZMS their home.

also, I was thinking... along with providing wholesome nourishing primarily organic food, and cutting down on the purchasing of habit forming items like coffee, I think an exercise/yoga place could be fully established.

tis proven that lean muscle mass extends life without meds for HIVers, and improves quality of life for everyone, but especially for those on meds. in that veine, I've been told by a few of the founding members, that ZMS was intended as a place of healing for all, but especially for people dealing with HIV and AIDS.

Frankly, though the place is CERTAINLY cleaner than it was this time last year, it isn't really safe for people dealing with compromised immune systems. a friend of mine is stuggling with AIDS, and he got some kind of stomach bug from being out there. and remember the shamans gathering two years ago? a dozen people got sick. I'm not trying to set a panic, or be the naysayer here, or the "town cryer"....

if your'e seriously considering healing center, I want to be involved. however, I feel that certain things really have to be agreed upon by the whole group, encouraged by that group. like if the general overall intention is to set up a healing center, then what are the second tier intentions that reinforce that? not just a willigness to cooperate, or in general foster healing, though that's important. but also, preactical matters, material "raod blocks" to change our bad habits that keep us from healing, and not just revel in them. this is why I suggest the food, and the exercise room. it sets up encouragement. it "fosters an environment for healing" as hitirus is so fond of saying.

we should(and don't discount me cus i'm "shouldding") patiently support each other in this process. but I do believe there comes a point where it's not support but enabling. you can say " I gave up alcohol, but held on to coffee and cigarettes" or like me " I gave up cigarettes but now smoke pot 2/3 of the day." that maybe good for a while, I know for people on the edge with alcohol, taking up something else is a life saver. but I'm going on a year of justifying my pot use with the fact that I gave up cigarettes last shamans gathering. Now I am ready to give this up too, and I hope that I can find support from people this coming gathering. I am forever greatful to everyone at last gathering, because the energy we collectively moved helped me to quit smoking for good!! THANKS EVERY BODY!!!

if I'm addicted to something, I'm not fully present.

I'm not the only one intimately involved with ZMS struggling with this (addiction to material world--through substance, through anger, through sex, through judgements--). I think people who stay long term at ZMS are all dealing with these issues of overcoming and integrating their persona/shadow split. these are the psychic issues at hand I feel. not just for me, not just the way I see it, but for everybody to some degree. I mean we are unique, but really, there's more in common than uncommon.

        then there's some physical considerations:

although the on demand water heater has been working, the water pressure has not. I understand that these things are being fixed, but nonetheless have been issues.
and even when there was running hot water, sanitation was not suitable for immune compromised individuals.

then, when it wasnt' working, it was tedious and inconvienient to boil water to wash your hands before you eat, it winds up not happening. I even found myself washing my hands in front of people who were normally avid handwashers, but weren't at the time...and especially when the counters only get cleaned with cold water.. it's not sanitary. (someone may say here "i've seen you not wash your hand's before!" but I promise, it wasn't since I tested poz myself that I became a convert. and I realised, it is not healthy to go into a "public" kitchen with immunity issues and just start making something on a surface. it's got to be wiped down with a fairly fresh hot towel, with at least vinegar or soem kind of citirc acid to be effective. and of course waching hands is a part of that.... there is too little neglect of this issue in particular. not every body is participating in that fully, and they need to be in light of consideration for a healing center.

my house is a cluttered mess. my room at ZMS was a cluttered mess. when I first got to ZMS july of 02, I was a cluttered mess. and I got a lot of help. some from the people living there, but laregly from the community that regularly attends the gathering, and those living in candy kitchen. over the months of living there as short term and long term visitor, I feel a home there. I want to live there. I feel the remoteness has and can continue to help me with my discipline, art, and practice. and I hope that under this post or any other that people be welcomed to offer advice, suggestions, ideas to think about.... I really want to see where I can plug in, not to the daily chores, that's easy when everybodys cooperating. but the bigger picture.

I think one of the biggest things that has hampered ZMS is this myopia that developed as cooperation broke down. --or at least retreated to a minimum... sorry for the lengthy post, but I mean every word of it, i read over it to make sure I didn't have anything to take out. so thanks for bearing with me!

        sincerely,

        aletheus

Very cold!!! No outside camping unless you're into that thing. Average highs in the 40s and lows around 10. Small chance of snow. I haven't heard the specifics but I'm pretty sure that space will be provided in the resident houses.

          Indoor Accomodations - autumn/winter

          Sun, December 11, 2005 - 11:34 AM
Current temperature at high noon on December 11th @ ZMS is 49 degrees with expected low after sundown 14 degrees.

For the autumn and winter season indoor accomodations at ZMS are available all with indoor heating.

If precident is any indicator - Juniper House tends to be where those with a smoking preference tend to stay while TRooms is tobacco-free building.

Precidents have been known to change however depending on the the dynamics on the land.

Anyone interested in the regional weather can check the stats for Ramah, NM
We've only had one snow so far this season and it all melted away within a few days.

Re: Wellness Weekend - #2 recap

      Sat, March 4, 2006 - 4:23 PM
--- transcribed per Raed Wulf Dancing Gummi Bear ---

      On February 17-19

ZMS hosted our 2nd monthly offering of Healing Center in the Studio and it has been hailed as a glowing success. Attended by 12+ people, the ripples of good cheer, peacefilled hearts and deep sharing are still echoing through the community.

Transformative healing work, good food and social intercourse marked the 3 days.

Saturday morning/afternoon stand out in my mind as the embodiment of the aim of this endeavor; 3 healing tables in a warm cozy sunny space were always filled with someone recieving reiki, tonal work, chakra balancing, massage, accupunture (thank you for joining us Will Peplinski from ALBUQ) and whatever else intuition called up.

The combined warmth of all 3 tables in play and each receiver sometimes having as many as 3 healers on them at any given moment, blew the psychic roof off. Joy, clairity, and peace reverberatred. A great discourse saturday night and deep hearth circle offerings sunday morning brought it all home.

Thanks to all who came and shared their talents, gifts, food, NRG, funds and love. May goddess allow an ever widening and deepening of this circle for the highest good of allbeings.

      Blessed Be
