Zombie Walk FAQ's

1. How did the idea first come about?

I wanted to host a Zombie Walk ever since I saw "Shaun of the Dead", right after it came out on video. Then, when I started putting my Live Journal (cleozombie.livejournal.com) site together, Zombie fans let me know about the Vancouver one, the Toronto one, SF, etc etc. Then I knew I was onto something. I then started sitting at the computer and promoted the hell out of it.

2. What sort of attendance do you
expect to your next walk, and how would it compare to events past?

There were about 300 people participating in the three combined Zombie Walks of 2005. I hope for at least that amount this year on the single Oct. 2th invasion.

3. What types of people usually come out to a zombie walk?

All types that are brave enough to show up in costume and play the part. Most people are teenagers, lots of creative adults and then the die hard movie fans want to be victims! Haa Haa! One guy said he wanted to stuff gobs of meat in his coat and have the Zombies ambush him, rip out the meat and make a bloody mess. I said "right on, as long as you clean it up!".

4. So what exactly goes on during a zombie walk? Is there more to it than just shambling?

We clamor up en mass pounding on storefront windows, "attack" a victim every block and smack our decaying lips at the site of the Living! (Victim volunteers are asked in advance: "What kind of "Zombie Attack" do you feel comfortable with?" God damn, is that an odd conversation to have with a stranger!

5. Why do you do this? What do you think people get out of it? You mention on your website that some do it to make a statement?what sort of statement to you think a zombie walk makes?

The Zombie genre speaks to class conflict and the unempowered, denied parts of society that eventually rise up. Zombie Walk is the symbolic manifestation of that horror. People need to vent about how frustrating it is to live in the World.........I see people walking around and wishing they had more braiiiiiiiiiiiiins! Being a "Zombie" with a mob of people who can acknowledge that Zombie peice of themselves, is a great way to theatricly vent that anxiety, and have it be noticed by "Society". I hope Zombie Walk becomes a catalyst for people to see where they are at in the world and start working together to manifest what THEY want in the word.

Please discuss your ideas for Zombie Walk 2006! The politically minded Zombie event is called Dead Awake! on a seperate tribe.
