Knok-knock... uh, hello . . .

Hi, very, *very* green newcomer here, but this looks interesting and fun. I have a couple favorite "enlightened masters," but I must admit close to total ignorance of those mentioned here. So, I'm out of my comfort zone a bit, and it will feel good to stretch. Somewhere in here, Prayoga said, "Be yourself, thats all there is," and that's really all I needed to hear.

      Hi Diane, WELCOME!!!

Yes tell us a bit about your masters and we will tell our stories!
As you know I am at the moment in "love" with UG Krishnamurti:... "Just eat, sleep fuck..."

Oh, so *that's* where "eat sleep fuck" comes from! LOL. And I thought it was all you, Prayo!

Well, my experience here is pretty limited to those "famous" masters: I find much (most) of what Thich Nhat Hanh says extremely valuable to me. These are two quotes I keep around:

If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work.
        Thich Nhat Hanh

In order to rally people, governments need enemies. They want us to be afraid, to hate, so we will rally behind them. And if they do not have a real enemy, they will invent one in order to mobilize us.
        Thich Nhat Hanh

The Dalai Lama's philosophy of "one-ness." He said in a speech, "Now that the European Union exists, France & Germany can no longer war against one another because they share the same army... we need this in the Middle East and Asia and especially Africa as well..."

I am not christian, but one philosopher I am interested in is Meister Eckhart, who I only learned about through the "fallen" catholic Matthew Fox, who I adore. Eckhart says:
"A human being has so many skins inside, covering the depths of the heart. We know so many things, but we don't know ourselves! Why, thirty or forty skins or hides, as thick and hard as an ox's or bear's, cover the soul. Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there."

I'm looking forward to hearing your stories!
