Hello! I actually camped at Zumwalt in 2006 with friends and had a *marvelous* time - but I didn't make any of the arrangements myself, so I'm considering myself a newbie. This year, I'm handling the logistics. My partner and little brother and I want to spend two days at the Fair, either Fri-Sat or Sat-Sun. If we choose Sat-Sun and arrive at the campground on Friday, will there still be adequate space for us to set up camp? In 2006 we got there late on Thursday, and I remember that it was *crowded* and challenging to find a spot. What do you think? Any other tips for somewhat-first-timers?

Mon, June 2, 2008 - 11:42 AMWelcome back, do you have your camping tix's yet? if not you will want to get on that fast they tend to start selling fast in June, As for the day you arrive to camp if you came down Thursday late last time and it was crowded, know that by Friday night it will really be full and in full party mode.
Friday is the day alot of folks show up to spend Saturday & Sunday in fair, I have always preferd to be at camp Thursday afternoon to evening and spend my Friday and Sunday in fair, Saturdays at camp nice and lazy as fair is packed and a bit to crazy for me.
We also try to get the same spot each year and have opprotunity to save spots so we could chat more as it gets closer and you deside what day to arrive.
WHAT A FUN TIME WE WILL HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great idea about spending Friday and Sunday in fair and relaxing on Saturday. Since $40 per person/night is a bit spendy for us, though, it's more likely we'd just do two nights instead of three.
Do you know how early we could arrive on Friday? Could we arrive earlier in the morning, thus upping the chances of finding ourselves a piece of ground?
So many decisions...

Sat, June 14, 2008 - 6:40 PMOwww it is $40 for the weekend, not per night, hope that makes a diffrence, the gates open early I think you can arrive as early as 7am on Friday.
So if your looking for folks to park your tent next to, we will be off to the right as you first wind your way in to camp Look for the giant teepie type canopie, we will all be just about waking up that early to swim, woo hoo.

I'm camping at Zumwalt too, with a posse of sunday dance friends. There's a half dozen confirmed and some more sitting on the fence about it (I'm currently trying to light a fire under their butts, as time is running out!) Stephen and I are planning on coming down Thursday night. I'll post something on the message board about where we are in the park so you can find us. -
